The tradition
|
The history of our family owned enterprise traces back to the settlement of our ancestors in this lovely part of Italy. Right from the beginning those families dedicated their lives to the production of wines and to the farming of our delicious and gracious steep hills. A commitment that was never abandoned ever since. We have proofs that already in the 14th century our ancestors were dwellers of this area. In fact the name Fiamberti appears on a letter sent by Pope Benedetto XII to the bishops of this region on July 1st 1341, where Giulius and Rolandus de Fiambertis are mentioned. |

The Fiambertis anyway are natives of Canneto Pavese. Their presence there finds correspondence in the religious archives of the 16th century, where several families with this last name are mentioned. Today the Fiamberti family is one of the most renowned families of winegrowers of the town: recently we also gave our town a mayor and here we thrive in harmony. Our fame though is due to our ability at wine making, where we conveyed a centennial tradition and experience. You can have a look at our family tree here.
The images on the left are two documents from our history: a waybill of a shipment of wines to Switzerland (January 7 1924) and the purchase contract of the Solenga vineyard (1814). |

We
have always followed two guidelines in our way of working:
the uniqueness of our wines and the protection of our traditions,
without chasing the last fashion of the day.
A
difficult purpose, which can be reached only through a continue monitoring of
the winemaking process, from the harvesting to the bottling. A
good care of the soil is the first step towards reaching our goals, as it
enables the grapes to be top quality ones. Our attachment to the traditions is
due to the fact that over the centuries thay have proven to be satisfactory,
therefore we still pick every single grape by hand, but then we use technology
where it is handy, as it is the case for the continuous analysis in our
laboratories. Oakwood barrels and isobaric steel pools are placed one next to
the other, so that every different wine can be kept in the best possible
environment. |

|
Differences amongst wines are extremely important.
The young white wines need continuous filtering so that they can last longer, whereas the red wines with a ageing potential undergo much fewer chemical manipulations so that they won’t lose fibres; pourings, wood and the right temperature are our only secrets.
Our mission and our challenge is to harmonize modernity and tradition. The World Wide Web and the winemaking really seem to be different worlds, unmatchable, but that is misleading. The art of winemaking has always been the search for a great taste, sensibility, flavour, scent, all joined in harmony. |
